Pod Pro Author Coaching

Are you an author looking for ways to get word out about your work? Imagine captivating your audience beyond the written word—by tapping into one of the fastest-growing platforms available today: podcasts.

Podcasts offer you the opportunity to reach hundreds—even thousands—of readers and potential fans from the comfort of your home. They also enable you to tap into a community of influencers—your podcast hosts—who can open opportunities for you long after the interview is a wrap.

But stepping into the podcast spotlight can be daunting! That's why I've crafted a specialized coaching service to prepare you for success: Pod Pro Author Coaching.

As the host of The Indy Author Podcast, I’ve conducted hundreds of interviews; as part of both my non-fiction and fiction platforms, I’ve guested on dozens more. Below are just two examples—you’ll find many more examples of my hosting work here and of my guest appearances here.

I also spent much of my corporate career coaching presenters, including executives, in how to convey their message and portray their persona most effectively.

I’ve collected some of my best practices tips in “The Indy Author’s Guide to Guesting Checklist,” which you can download here.

Now I’m making coaching available to my fellow authors through Pod Pro Author Coaching.

What You Receive

As a client of Pod Pro Author Coaching, you receive:

  • An ebook edition of my book From Page to Platform: How to Succeed as an Author Speaker, which includes a section specifically on guesting best practices.

  • 10–15-minute practice interview with me via Zoom, based on the format of my popular video series, WHAT I LEARNED. I will ask you two questions related to your book:

    • What did you learn from that book that you’d like to share with your fellow writers?

    • What did you learn from that book that you’d like to share with your fellow readers?

(Note that although this practice video follows the same format at WHAT I LEARNED video series, it will not be posted on my YouTube channel.)

  • Edited versions of the interview video – You’re free to use the edited version as you see fit.

  • Within a week of the recording, a follow-up ½ hour virtual meeting with me to discuss the interview and for me to provide coaching on:

    • Content

    • Persona

    • Technical aspects (e.g., audio and video quality, background, etc.)

Areas of Focus

How to ...

  • Get comfortable with a moment or two of silence.

  • Allow the conversation to evolve.

  • Avoid going into the interview with a pre-set agenda.

  • Gain maximum promotional benefit by letting your personality shine through (not by mentioning your book in every other sentence).

Best practices, tailored to you ...

  • Create the best possible audio and video environment through easy and inexpensive adjustments to your interview space.

  • Create a concise introduction that you feel comfortable saying.

  • Crisp closing – Establish one place—usually your website—to send listeners to connect with you (don’t try to list every platform you’re active on).

Pricing

The fee for a Pod Pro Author Coaching engagement is $125 and includes everything described above.

Who am I?

I'm Matty Dalrymple, The Indy Author, and since 2013 I've been independently publishing  via my imprint, William Kingsfield Publishers.

My fiction works include the Ann Kinnear Suspense Novels and Suspense Shorts and the Lizzy Ballard Thrillers, and you can learn more about my fiction here.

I also have non-fiction books for authors, including From Page to Platform: How to Succeed as an Author SpeakerTaking the Short Tack: Creating Income and Connecting with Readers Using Short Fiction, and The Indy Author's Guide to Podcasting  for Authors.

I've spoken at dozens of author events, speaking on topics including taking control of your author career with indie publishing, how to succeed as an author speaker, podcasting for authors as a host or guest, co-authoring, indie publishing your short fiction, pitching for promotion, and many more.

And I'm the host of The Indy Author Podcast, giving me the opportunity to interview hundreds of experts in the writing craft and the publishing voyage.

My advice isn't based on theoretical knowledge; it's built on hard-won experience navigating the tricky waters of the publishing process. I'd love to share that experience with you to smooth your voyage!

My meeting with Matty provided insight about where I currently stand and as well as suggestions on how to get to where I want to be. She provided concrete examples from her own career. Professional and friendly, I do not hesitate to recommend her if you need consulting on your author business.
